The Montclair Public Library (MPL), originally founded in 1893, serves the estimated 40,000 citizens of Montclair, New Jersey and its neighboring towns.
In order to support such a large population, MPL has two facilities. The Main Branch has been at its current location since 1955 and underwent an extensive remodel in1997. It is now a comfortable 55,000 square feet covering three floors and includes designated areas for children, teens and seniors, a café, meeting rooms, and a 170-seat auditorium.
The Bellevue Avenue Branch, built in 1914, is approximately 4,800 square feet , offering a cozy location in the northern end of town.
